Multi-talented electronic artist Nyxen showcases her vocal, writing, and producing skills in her debut album, PXNK.
With modern electronic and 80’s synthwave musical influences, there is a cohesiveness and balance of Nyxen’s variety of abilities. Production is an important part to all the tracks, Oceanview and Lightyears are instrumental, focusing on the Sydney-based artist’s talent as a producer. These two tracks in particular provided smooth transitions for the songs next to them. The guitar riffs in Tunnels and The Search flow effortlessly with Oceanview in between. Synth-beat Lightyears provides a nice transition for Fantasies and Nightmare. Other tracks such as The Search and Synthetic focus more on her vocal and writing talents. From topics such as sleepless nights in Nightmare, to faking a smile to be like everyone else in Silence in Motion, to chasing someone in a one-sided romance in Tunnels, Nyxen’s music is both catchy and relatable.
Including earlier released songs such as Tunnels and Nightmare, as well as brand new tracks such as Silence in Motion and Fantasies, PXNK is a cohesive showcase of Nyxen’s career so far.
